What are Dermal Fillers
Dermal fillers are made of Hyaluronic Acid (HA), also known as “fillers” is a sugar molecule the body naturally produces. HA in the body attracts and binds water molecules to collagen and help retain moisture to keep the skin hydrated and plump. Fillers are made of soft gel textures that resemble the body’s natural HA, delivering exceptional and natural looking results. It can be used to add volume, instantly smooth lines and to contour various areas of the face resulting in a more rejuvenated look.
Why Choose Dermal Fillers
Volume loss is a natural process of facial aging. Aging is not only skin deep. As we age, we lose collagen, elastin and volume in the face which what gave us that youthful plumpness and definition. With volume loss the overall shape of the face changes, becoming less full and less defined. Dermal fillers are used to restore volume, soften lines, fill in hollowness and to contour the face.
How dermal fillers Work
Dermal fillers are gently and directly injected into the desired area and work by adding volume, boosting hyaluronic acid, instantly softening lines and wrinkles and restoring shape to the face. Fillers are made up of soft gels that highly resemble our natural HA therefore producing and giving natural and smooth results. Multiple syringes can be injected in one session or gradually in a series of appointments until desired look is achieved. Each session can take 30-34 minutes, depending on how many syringes are being used.
How long do Fillers last
We use premium filler brands of Teosyal® and Restylane®. They are the most popular fillers and most commonly used. They are long-lasting and can last anywhere between 6-12 months or longer. Both brands have a range of fillers which consists of different gel densities making each one specific to treating different areas of the face. The longevity of the filler will depend on the patient’s age, area treated and the type of filler used.
what do dermal fillers feel like
Fillers are not painful however, there may be a slight discomfort while the filler is being injected. There is a numbing agent mixed with the filler to minimize the discomfort. You will feel a slight pinch from the insertion of the needle and a little pressure as we deposit the filler and some tenderness after the treatment. To provide further relief we can apply an anesthetic cream before treatment.
Can Fillers look natural
Absolutely! With new developments of dermal fillers, they are specially designed to restore volume loss while preserving movement and your natural facial expressions. When fillers are done correctly, they can enhance your features to create a more youthful appearance.
When should you do dermal fillers
If you feel you have volume loss and your face is becoming less full and defined, you can look to do fillers to reverse these signs of aging. Your mid 20s-30s is often a good time to start if you notice these changes. Fillers can soften lines, fill in folds and add volume. Popular treatments include plumping the lips and cheeks, filling in under-eye hollows and contouring the chin and jawline.
A youthful face has 3 unique features: high cheek bones, cheek volume, and a well-defined jawline. These 3 attributes are frequently referred to as the “Triangle of Youth” with the base of the triangle being at the cheeks and the point at the chin. The decline of this appearance is caused by the aging process. Skin quality decreases and the loss of fat and elasticity all leads to flattening of cheeks and an undefined jawline. Thankfully, advanced facial fillers allow us to restore the V-Shape with natural looking results!
how much dermal filler do i need
Some important questions to ask yourself is why do you want fillers. Is it for aging? Do you want big changes? Depending on what your goals are and what areas you want to treat will determine how many syringes are needed. Facial restoration and sculpting typically require more than one syringe to achieve transformational changes. Generally, the older you get, the more filler you need to correct age-related changes and the younger patients in their 20s-30s are more likely to need less. One syringe is around 1/5 of a teaspoon in volume, a small amount used for subtle changes. If you are looking for big changes most likely more than one syringe would be needed.
What To Expect after dermal filler
Immediately following your treatment, redness, swelling, tenderness and possible bruising may occur. You may also feel some firmness and lumps before the filler fully settles. These will soften in the next couple weeks. Swelling can be reduced with the use of cold compresses after the treatment and bruises can be camouflaged with makeup after 12 hours.
When to expect Results
Results can be seen immediately after, however swelling and bruising may appear during the session or the following day so final results will be visible after 2 weeks after the gel settles into the tissue. Depending on the areas being treated, fillers can last anywhere between 8-12 months or longer.
